We are excited to announce that the one and only Paul Vermeersch will be gracing the walls of WEP Central with a stunning new show : Cloud Errors!
Paul Vermeersch's recent paintings are concerned with how nature, or our capacity to perceive nature, is increasingly mediated by technology. Clouds are essentially organic and constantly evolving forms. In Cloud Errors, the naturally amorphous shapes of clouds are interrupted by unrepeating patterns of pixelations representing digital display errors. The result might at first appear to be an accidental beauty, but the glitching is emblematic of our growing disconnect with the natural world.
Paul Vermeersch is a poet, multimedia artist, creative writing professor, and literary editor. He is the author of several poetry collections, including Shared Universe: New and Selected Poems 1995-2020. He has been a finalist for the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award and the Trillium Book Award, among other honours. He holds an MFA in creative writing from the University of Guelph for which he received the Governor General's Gold Medal. He teaches in the Honours Bachelor of Creative Writing & Publishing program at Sheridan College where he is the editor-in-chief of The Ampersand Review of Writing & Publishing. He is also the senior editor of Wolsak and Wynn Publishers where he created the poetry and fiction imprint Buckrider Books. He lives in Toronto.

Cloud Errors will be celebrated with an opening reception on Oct 11th at WEP Central (#3 Bartlet Ave), starting at 7 PM
