Sistering presents: Food For Thought
an exciting food access event to raise awareness of food insecurity, address barriers to accessing healthy and affordable foods, and provide insight into our programs, services, and advocacy efforts.
The event will feature 6 celebrated women chefs from across Toronto, who will each prepare and serve one dish. We will offer information on available resources, such as food banks, community fridges and gardens, and other local outlets. We have invited Mayor Chow and confirmed attendance from Ward 9 City Councillor Alejandra Bravo. Please see our event poster and postcard for additional details!
DATE & TIME: November 19th from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm
LOCATION: Osteria Rialto within the Paradise Theatre at 1006a Bloor St W, Toronto.
HOSTED BY: Sistering
As COVID-19 restrictions lift, Sistering has recently transitioned back to a 24/7 drop-in shelter, which has caused an influx of clients who need our services. We are now supporting up to 250 people daily and providing up to 320 meals/ per day. Continual public funding cuts make it increasingly difficult for non-profits to address community needs; hence, community engagement events like this are essential to keep up with demand and address the growing concerns of food insecurity in our city.
